Saiho｜Gamaguchi Travel Jewelry Pouch｜Sakura-gasumi Pattern

This is the Saiho series of gamaguchi (clasp-style) jewelry pouches. Made with classic Sakura-gasumi (cherry blossom haze) Kinran fabric, it has an elegant and timeless look. Despite its compact size, it is perfect for carrying small accessories such as necklaces, earrings, piercings, rings, charms, and small brooches.
Kinran is a luxurious textile woven with gold, silver, or gold-foil threads to create elaborate patterns. Originating in China, it developed in Kyoto’s Nishijin district from the Muromachi period onward. Its golden sheen and dimensional texture have made it a traditional choice for Noh costumes, Buddhist altar fittings, Hina Festival doll clothing, and hanging-scroll mounts. Today, Kinran is also appreciated in Japanese clothing and interior decor.
The gamaguchi design opens and closes with one touch, and its wide opening makes it easy to see and reach what is inside. A built-in gusset helps prevent items from falling out, even when the pouch is fully open. It also acts as a cushion, making it less likely for accessories to get caught in the metal clasp.

The name Saiho (彩包) was chosen to express the idea of a pouch that gently wraps and protects your colorful accessories.
The idea for this series came from my own everyday experience. I used to carry a necklace in a slim gamaguchi pouch without a gusset, but I often encountered small inconveniences: the chain slipped out through a tiny gap, nearly got caught in the clasp, or felt as if it might fall out when I opened the pouch wide.
Since I’ve always loved the classic shape of a gamaguchi, I wanted to solve those frustrations and create something that allows accessories to be carried safely and comfortably. Adding an inner gusset was the key—it solves those problems and makes the pouch much more practical and secure.

Size: 4.5 cm (6.0 cm) × 6.5 cm × 1.0 cm / 1.8 in (2.4 in) × 2.6 in × 0.4 in. The measurements in parentheses include the clasp knob. The interior dimensions are slightly smaller due to construction.
